Crowns & Bridges

Crowns and Bridges at Dento Smile

Do you have broken, worn, decayed, or missing teeth? Perhaps you’ve noticed imperfections in your smile that make you feel dissatisfied. Fortunately, custom ceramic restorations such as crowns and bridges can improve both the function and appearance of your teeth.

While crowns and bridges serve as restorative treatments, they are crafted with aesthetics in mind to enhance your overall smile.

Crowns Strengthen and Protect

A crown, also known as a “cap,” is a dental restoration placed over a tooth to protect it from breaking during normal use. It covers the entire tooth surface up to the gum line. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is severely decayed or damaged beyond what a filling can repair due to insufficient healthy structure remaining.

Our crowns are crafted from custom-matched ceramic materials, designed to blend in naturally with your other teeth for a more discreet appearance.

We typically recommend crowns following root canal therapy, to restore teeth with dental implants in case of missing teeth, or when a tooth has a significant fracture or cavity that cannot be addressed with simpler treatments.

Bridge to Replace Missing Teeth

If you have a missing tooth and healthy teeth adjacent to the gap, a dental bridge offers a straightforward solution to restore your smile. Bridges span the space left by the missing tooth, anchored at each end with crowns that fit over the neighboring teeth.

Similar to crowns, bridges are crafted from porcelain matched to mimic natural tooth enamel in appearance and texture. With a bridge, you can confidently smile without gaps and chew evenly on both sides of your mouth.

For those missing multiple teeth, an implant-supported bridge provides a stable and permanent alternative to removable dentures.

A Two-Visit Process

Each of our custom crowns and bridges undergoes meticulous design by a skilled ceramist at one of our trusted dental labs. This process involves two phases of treatment: the initial “prep” appointment followed by the placement visit approximately two weeks later. During your first visit, we ensure your comfort by numbing the teeth undergoing preparation to minimize sensitivity. We carefully reshape these teeth to accommodate the restoration without adding bulk. After shaping, we take an impression of your teeth and place a temporary crown or bridge while the permanent one is being crafted. At your second visit, we remove the temporary restoration and cement the final crown or bridge into place. This step typically requires no anesthesia, ensuring a comfortable and seamless placement experience.
